Kapumpe Christian Primary School
The school vision is: to give children firm foundations in education and God, equipping them for success in life - we want them to soar! Isa. 40:29-31
Kapumpe Christian Primary School uses a UK based curriculum incorporating Zambian culture, history, art, and geography as appropriate. A strong emphasis in the early years is placed on work through play and developing independent thinking. We apply a theme-based cross-curricular approach to learning ensuring learning is purposeful and meaningful. Subjects are linked into a relevant context. English is the language of instruction. The children are encouraged to express themselves freely and enjoy being who God made them to be. By providing a well-rounded and stimulating education, the school is broadening the horizons of our children, giving them hope for the future and a solid Christian foundation.
Kapumpe is a Bemba word which means 'Eagles' and we want all our children to rise up from the poverty that entangles their lives and gain a fresh new perspective on life, we really believe they can soar!
We want to help release children from the poverty and disadvantage that tethers so many families and enable them to rise up to new heights and gain a new perspective on life. Kapumpe Christian Primary School provides an environment where these children can meet Jesus Christ and develop a personal relationship with Him.
Kapumpe started with just one class of 5-6 year olds and we have continued to expand the school as the students grow. We now have Preschool - Grade 4 and are currrently building another 3 classrooms for Grades 4-7. The new building will contain a library to allow our children to continue their education at home.
Classes run from 7.30am to 12noon each day and we also ensure the children are fed. The focus on smaller classes, teacher training and belief in the children's potential and abilities has resulted in extremely pleasing results. Currently our grade 4 students are studying at a level that is on par with most Zambian grade 7 students!
